Aston Villa face major fixture pile-up with added Man City complication possible
Aston Villa are about to play eight matches in all competitions in the space of just over three weeks.
After progressing in the FA Cup, Unai Emery’s side have three Premier League games, an FA Cup fifth round tie and their Champions League round of 16 legs to play in a 24 or 25-day period.
Starting with three successive home matches in seven days against Ipswich, Liverpool and Chelsea, Villa then face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Tuesday, February 25.

Villa were drawn against Cardiff City at home in the fifth round of the FA Cup, which will be played around the weekend of March 1/2, which follows the trip to Palace.
Then, Villa will play in Europe against one of Sporting, Club Brugge, Borussia Dortmund or Atalanta for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie on either Tuesday, March 4, or Wednesday, March 5.
An away game against Brentford follows on Saturday, March 8, before the return home leg in the Champions League.
After that exhausting run of fixtures, Villa aren’t scheduled to play on the weekend of March 15/16 as the Liverpool match was brought forward due to the Reds competing in the Carabao Cup final.
If Villa progress to the FA Cup quarter-finals, it will be the first match they play after the March internationals.
At the end of April, the FA Cup semi-finals are due to be played on the weekend of April 26/27, when Villa are due to face Man City away in the Premier League.
If either team are in the Wembley semi-finals, a new date for that league fixture will need to be found.
Villa host another FA Cup fifth round side, Newcastle, in the league the week before the FA Cup semi-finals.
