Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has already addressed Axel Disasi’s situation at Stamford Bridge, as Aston Villa are said to be closing in on a deal for the French defender.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Villa have agreed personal terms with Disasi who, he says, wants to move to Villa Park despite interest from across Europe.

Romano says talks with Villa boss Unai Emery have been a key factor and the next stage is for Chelsea and Villa to agree the terms of a loan until the end of the season.

Disasi, who can play right back or central defender, has started all six of Chelsea’s Europa Conference League matches so far this season but has been less well-used in the Premier League.

Indeed he has started only four of Chelsea’s 23 league matches and made just six appearances in all. He has played 61 times for the Blues since joining from Monaco for €45m in 2023.

Speaking a week ago Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was asked about Disasi and Tosin Adarabioyo and said: “At the moment they are both us. The intention is not to allow them to go, but we are in January and anything can happen.”
