Aston Villa handed major transfer boost as Chelsea agreement found after Tottenham snub
Aston Villa are set to sign Axel Disasi on loan for the remainder of the season.
Chelsea were unwilling to hand Disasi over to Villa as they view them as a direct rival for a Champions League finish this season and had set a high loan fee price. Now a breakthrough has been found and the player is set to link up with Unai Emery for the remainder of the campaign.
Disasi’s preference was to join Villa on loan all along despite having interest from elsewhere, including from Tottenham Hotspur. The 26-year-old had an offer to join Ange Postecoglou’s side, but he rejected it.

The arrival of Disasi will come as a big boost for Emery, who has been desperate to recruit a new defender following the sale of Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce for £8.5m.
Villa tried to sign Loic Bade from Sevilla soon after the Brazilian’s departure, but he opted to stay at the Spanish club due to concerns over his playing time if he were to join.
Disasi will become the third loan signing Villa have made in the winter window and the fifth arrival overall after Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia joined for a combined £26m last month.
Marcus Rashford signed on loan from Manchester United on Sunday night, before Marco Asensio joined earlier today on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
