Aston Villa and Newcastle United have been fined for a mass confrontation during their Premier League game at St James' Park on Boxing Day.

The incident took place at half-time of and resulted in Newcastle's assistant head coach Jason Tindall and Villa analyst Victor Manas being sent off.

Both clubs have admitted their charges of failing to control their players and staff, and as a result, an independent regulatory commission fined Villa £30,000 and Newcastle £20,000.

Meanwhile, Manas has been given a £4,000 fine and a two-match ground ban after admitting to his charge of acting in an improper manner.

Tindall was also charged with the same offence, but he denied the allegation against him and the commission found the charge to be not proven so he will face no further action.

Villa lost the game 3-0, but are unbeaten in the league since then after drawing with Brighton, Arsenal and West Ham, while they've picked up victories against Leicester and Everton.

Unai Emery's side will take on Wolves at Molineux on Saturday night (5:30pm) as they target a victory which could close the four-point gap to the top four.
