Aston Villa injury boost ahead of West Ham clash as Emery gives McGinn and Onana updates
John McGinn has returned to full training ahead of Aston Villa's clash with West Ham on Sunday, but Amadou Onana remains sidelined after suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last weekend.
Onana was forced off after picking up the problem before Villa conceded the first goal of the game through Gabriel Martinelli. After the Arsenal winger scored, Lamare Bogarde replaced Onana before Villa staged a comeback having fallen 2-0 behind after the start of the second half.
McGinn, meanwhile, has been sidelined since Villa's 2-1 win over Leicester City at the start of January after he picked up a hamstring problem in the first half. He may get minutes under his belt this weekend ahead of facing Celtic on Wednesday in the Champions League.

As well as Onana, Villa are also without Pau Torres and Ross Barkley. The latter could return shortly as he nurses a calf issue, while Torres remains sidelined for a number of weeks.
“John McGinn is starting to train with the group, he’s working with us,” said the Villa manager. "Onana is still working alone. Ross Barkley is still not available and Pau will need more time to try to be close with us.”
Diego Carlos completed his move to Fenerbahce earlier this week, so youngster Bogarde is the only other option Unai Emery has at centre-back apart from Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa. New signing Donyell Malen is available for selection and could make his debut.
The forward wasn't allowed to play against Monaco as Villa can only register new players at the start of February ahead of the knockout rounds. He was an unused substitute against Arsenal last weekend.
