Aston Villa are going head to head with Arsenal for Rosenborg teenager Sverre Nypan, who is among the most in-demand youngsters around Europe this month. Nypan, 18, has recently concluded his second full season in senior football in Norway's top tier and has come off the back of another fruitful campaign.

Nypan, who is a Norway under 21 international, scored eight goals in the campaign - which runs from March to December each year - having netted five times in his maiden season in 2023-24. Nypan made his debut as a 15-year-old in November 2022 for Rosenborg, who clinched a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying round on the final day of the season.

Nypan's contract with Rosenborg expires on New Year's Eve in 2026, but clubs around the continent have been alerted to his performances and what he's been producing in the final third. While Nypan is seen as a long-term investment Arsenal, according to various reports, are in pole position to sign him.

Villa, though, have been mentioned as another club who could offer the teenager a route to the Premier League. Villa have been active in looking ahead when they've approached recent transfer windows, signing the likes of Kosta Nedeljkovic and Andres Garcia, as well as Morgan Rogers. They are also close to sealing a move for Turkish teenager Yasin Ozcan.

Midfielder Nypan was supposedly in England this weekend watching compatriot Erling Haaland fire Manchester City to victory over Chelsea on Saturday evening. Spanish side Girona are another side who have emerged as contenders for Nypan's signature.
