Aston Villa and Marco Asensio permanent transfer update emerges
Aston Villa and PSG are ‘open’ to a permanent transfer for Marco Asensio at the end of the season. That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims there is no buy option in the loan deal that brought the Spaniard from the French capital to Villa Park at the end of the transfer window.
However, the transfer expert claims both clubs are willing to discuss the issue in June and that any decision will be ‘based on performances’.
Asensio joined Villa on a dramatic transfer deadline day, less than 24 hours after Marcus Rashford completed his loan move from Manchester United.

Both made their Villa debuts on Sunday, coming on at the same time with Unai Emery’s men 2-0 up in their FA Cup tie against Tottenham. Both also created a very positive first impression, with Rashford’s energy seemingly restored and Asensio’s technical ability shining through.
Speaking after the match Emery said: “We watched their skill and how they helped us and will help us again in the next months in the different competitions we will face.
"We have to protect every player and try to adapt them into our structure and use their skills. Asensio, Rashford and [Donyell] Malen are versatile players in the attacking third. We can feel confident to have them.”
Asensio joined PSG from Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, having won three Champions League titles with Los Blancos. He signed a three year contract which runs until 2026 but had made only ten starts in the league and Champions League so far this season.
As things stand both he and Rashford are only due to be at Villa until the end of the current campaign, but both situations could change in the summer.
