Aston Villa prepare for Tyrone Mings blow after Jacob Ramsey injury comments
Tyrone Mings is a major doubt to feature for Aston Villa against Celtic on Wednesday night.
The centre-back did not appear with the rest of the Villa squad for training at Bodymoor Heath earlier this afternoon. Unai Emery spoke to the media before training began and was asked about the defender’s condition after he suffered a knee injury in the draw with West Ham on Sunday.
“We will see this afternoon and then we are going to decide how every player is feeling,” Emery explained. "It is not a big injury, but every day is going to be important to see if he feels better or worse. When we play lots of matches, this is the difficulty we have. We will see this afternoon."

But after Emery’s press conference, Jacob Ramsey also spoke to the media and suggested that Mings could be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
“When he came off, everyone could see how devastated he was,” Ramsey said. “That shows how big he is for the team and inside the dressing room he is a big character. It’s good news that it’s only a couple of weeks, so hopefully he can recover and get back into the team.”
After playing Celtic on Wednesday night, Villa are away at Wolves on Saturday (5:30pm). The following weekend, Villa host Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup fourth round.
Villa are targeting a top eight finish in the league phase of the Champions League on Wednesday so they avoid a two-legged knockout play-off. Those matches are due to be played either side of a league game against Ipswich on Saturday, February 15.
