Unai Emery's Aston Villa has received a huge boost going into this weekend's Premier League clash with West Ham United.

Hammers boss Graham Potter gave his team news update when speaking to the media on Friday afternoon. He revealed Sunday could be too soon for three of his star players.

England international Jarrod Bowen, who has scored five and assisted four in 19 top flight games, is a doubt as he recovers from a foot injury suffered in December. Crysencio Summerville, thigh problem, and Jean-Claire Todibo, knock, may also miss the game at Villa Park.

Potter explained: "Jarrod Bowen has been integrating in the group, he's had a couple of sessions, bit it's still early. We've got another day tomorrow so we'll see, but it's important we don't rush it.

"It's the same with Cry [Summerville], he's had a couple of sessions, but we need to see. There are no further problems from the weekend.

"It's nice to have them back amongst it, but it's important we manage it properly. [Todibo] is progressing, but the weekend will come too soon for him."

It will mark the second time Villa have locked horns with West Ham this month. Just two weeks ago, the Villans emerged victorious 2-1 to progress to the next round of the FA Cup in Potter's first game in charge.

There is more spice in the tie this time around, however, as it comes just days after West Ham reignited their interest in Villa forward Jhon Duran. A bid of £57m was rejected for the Columbian.

A win will be incredibly important for both sides. Aston Villa, who have top four aspirations, lost 1-0 to Monaco midweek to drop out of the Champions League automatic qualification places, and West Ham need three points to make amends for the disappointing 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.
