Aston Villa 'submit offer' for defender as Unai Emery targets reunion after transfer snub
Aston Villa are targeting a move for Villarreal defender Juan Foyth after Loic Bade decided against joining Unai Emery's side.
Bade was Villa's primary target to replace Diego Carlos, but he had concerns over his game time at Villa considering Ezri Konsa is Emery's first-choice right-sided centre-back. Villa had other targets to pursue and are now in talks with Villarreal over signing Foyth.
AS report that Villa have submitted an offer to sign Foyth, which the La Liga club are considering. His contract ends in the summer of 2026, meaning he'll enter the final 12 months of his deal after the end of the season.

Foyth was part of Emery's Villarreal side which won the Europa League in 2021, beating Manchester United on penalties. He then played a key role in the club's run to the Champions League semi-finals the following season in a defence which included Villa star Pau Torres.
Foyth played at right-back under Emery at Villarreal, though he is capable of operating at centre-back too. He hasn't played a lot of football since the start of last season due to injury.
He missed the second half of the 2023/24 campaign due to a shoulder injury, only played 12 league games last term. After recovering in time for pre-season, Foyth then suffered a knee ligament injury in the club's pre-season friendly against Nottingham Forest at the start of August.
Foyth returned to action in December, coming off the bench in Villarreal's 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano. After then featuring late on against Leganes, Foyth started successive matches against Real Sociedad and Mallorca.
