Diego Carlos has not been included in Aston Villa’s squad to face Man City due to injury.

The centre-back started four of Villa’s last five league games, but is now sidelined with a new issue. Unai Emery will give an update on the defender and possibly a timeline regarding his return after Villa’s match with City today.

Amadou Onana replaces Carlos in the Villa starting XI for this afternoon’s match, with Ezri Konsa set to play alongside Pau Torres in defence. Matty Cash will then operate at right-back with Luas Digne playing from the left.

Emery has started Amadou Onana and Boubacar Kamara together in midfield, while Youri Tielemans may push further forward to support Jhon Duran, who makes his third successive league start.

John McGinn and Morgan Rogers also start as Ollie Watkins stays on the bench. Leon Bailey, who had missed the last two matches through injury, returns to the substitutes bench.

Jacob Ramsey is also missing today through injury after missing the last six weeks due to a hamstring issue.
