Aston Villa supporters delivers Emi Buendia transfer verdict as Monchi theory emerges
Emi Buendia continues to be linked with a move to River Plate from Aston Villa.
According to DSports Radio, River have asked Villa about the conditions of a possible move for Buendia, who is due to enter the final 12 months of his contract in the summer. As previously reported by Birmingham Live, he was of interest to a number of clubs in the summer, who wanted to take him on loan, but Unai Emery wanted to keep him in the squad, and the player himself was happy to fight for minutes.
However, the playmaker, who suffered an ACL injury on the eve of the start of last season, is yet to start a league game this season but has impressed off the bench in Villa's recent wins over Leicester City, West Ham and Everton. And Villa supporters, commenting on Birmingham Live, have been weighing up what their side should do with the Argentine in the interests of their club.

Reader Chosen in 1957 said: “If Monchi and co. did get the right offer, Emi will be sold in this window. I think it's unlikely that it will happen so soon after his ACL injury however.
"He will be used more because of the heavy schedule we have to face in 3 competitions and at the end of this season he will then be sold. His good cameo appearance against Everton was our only substitution in the whole game and that shows that Buendia still has what it takes to make an impact.”
Mikecoolruler remarked: “I would be surprised if Monchi was looking at selling or loaning Emi Buendia to River Plate, remember folks he was one of best players towards the latter part of the 22/23 season and do not forget that he cost the club £33m! River Plate do not have any where near that kind of money to spend on players. The whole squad of 33 first team players are worth barely £100m. They tend to pay between £1m and up to £5.5m for signings. You think they will break the bank for Buendia?”
Mikebravo wrote “Unai Emery has long said that he wants options - different profiles - in every position. Buendia is exactly that, a different profile of player compared to Rogers, Ramsey, Tielemans or McGinn. I don't think he'll go anywhere unless it's to make room for another similarly creative number 10.”
Others think that it would be best to move to move him on if he isn't featuring, like commenter Avillian, who said: “Buendia is a special talent but he doesn’t fit Emery’s profile for a creative midfielder, where he likes more dynamic and physical players, and his talent of picking those passes instead of running with the ball will see him get little play time. For his own career he should move which is a shame."
Crazycat1 said: ”I am surprised we have not used him more now that he is fit. If he does not fit into our style of play and we get a decent offer for him he should move on, he needs to be playing every week.”
Therealwaysbeanengland wrote: “Clearly only going to be a bit part player under Unai Emery, little point in giving him a new contract if he’s not going to play. Will probably lose around 20 million on his original fee.”
And Mchadley remarked: “He will never be a regular starter for Villa so if we can get a decent fee for him, say £20m, probably best to let him go.”
