Aston Villa have reportedly expressed an interest in signing Milan Skriniar on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 29-year-old has fallen out of favour under Luis Enrique after only making five appearances in all competitions in the first half of the season. Four of those were starts in Ligue 1, but Skriniar is yet to even play a minute of PSG's Champions League campaign.

L'Equipe claim that Villa and Tottenham have both positioned themselves to sign Skriniar on loan, while Turkish giants Galatasaray have been the most insistent contender for weeks. They add that the centre-back is expected to decide on his future in a matter of days.

Skriniar joined PSG in the summer of 2023 and won the Ligue 1 title last season, featuring 24 times, but missed a portion of the campaign due to an ankle injury. He didn't feature in either the club's Champions League quarter-final or semi-final legs against Barcelona or Borussia Dortmund after missing the last 16 victory over Real Sociedad through injury.

The Slovakia international also won the French Cup and French Super Cup last term, but is now expected to leave the Parc des Princes.

Speculation that Villa are interested in Skriniar comes after Fenerbahce are said to be willing to pay around £10m to sign Diego Carlos. The 31-year-old was available for transfer last summer, but a move never materialised.

He would only be allowed to depart if Villa could source a replacement in defence as Emery has limited options in that department, especially after the injury suffered by Pau Torres. He is set to miss around two months of action after breaking a metatarsal in his right foot.
