Milan Škriniar continues to be the subject of intense speculation with outlets across Europe saying his future lies away from Paris Saint-Germain.

And Aston Villa continue to be linked with the 29-year-old Slovakian who has fallen down the pecking order with the Ligue 1 giants, with Willian Pacho and Marquinhos dominating game-time at centre back.

It is said PSG would listen to offers of around €35 million and French outlet L’Équipe claims the defender is expected to make a decision about his career soon, with his current club preferring a loan with an option to buy.

Villa, Galatasaray, Tottenham and Napoli are all said to have expressed an interest but Napoli are reported to want just a pure loan, without any obligation at the end of the season. As a result the two Premier League clubs are said to be ‘more appealing’ to the player.

The same outlet reported on Sunday that despite rumours sending Škriniar to Napoli as part of the Khvicha Kvaratskhelia deal, sources close to Škriniar have played that down. Fabrizio Romano has said Galatasaray have opened talks with PSG over a loan and it has been claimed in Turkey this morning that Villa and Spurs have ‘stepped in’ for the player.

After making a name for himself at Italian giants Inter Milan, the 29-year-old moved to PSG for free in the summer of 2023 upon the expiry of his contract, becoming the first ever Slovakian player to play for the French giants.

The four-time Slovak Footballer of the Year award winner would be a catch if Villa were to secure his services. In need of a right-sided defender, boss Unai Emery could make good use of the former Serie A and Ligue 1 champion, utilising either Matty Cash or Ezri Konsa at right back if Škriniar was to play.

However, Emery and Monchi may opt to prioritise the signing of a right back considering Cash is the only senior out-and-out right-sided full back, with extensive links with Celta Vigo’s right-sided defender Óscar Mingueza and former Forest centre-half Loic Bade.
