Loic Bade is “going to stay” at Sevilla amid transfer interest from Aston Villa, believes teammate Djibril Sow.

Villa are said to be in talks with the Spanish club over a deal for French defender Bade during the January transfer window, as Diego Carlos looks set to exit Villa Park for Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce. But Sow thinks the centre-back will be staying put at Sevilla this month.

Asked about transfer interest in Bade and Dodi Lukebakio, the Swiss international told Estadio Deportivo: “They (Bade and Dodi Lukebakio) are two very important players for us and good guys, very humble. They want to do something special for Sevilla and I don’t see them with their heads outside the club or anything like that. I think they are going to stay with us.”

Villa's president of football operations Monchi signed Bade on loan for Sevilla in January 2023, before he joined permanently in June of that year.

Bade was close to joining Roma in the summer transfer window, but he stayed put in Spain. He was rewarded with a call-up to the France national team in October after a strong start to the season with his club.

He made 28 league appearances last season and has continued to improve this term despite Sevilla's struggles on the pitch. Garcia Pimienta's side currently sit in 11th place in the Spanish top-flight.
