Jaden Philogene could potentially be on his way out the door of Bodymoor Heath again this month. The winger rejoined Aston Villa last summer when the club exercised their buy-back clause by matching the £18 million bid Ipswich Town had offered in order to sign him from Hull City.

Philogene had left Villa for Hull the previous summer and managed 12 goals and six assists for the Tigers in his only season at the MKM Stadium before his return to Villa Park. He has struggled to make a significant impact in Unai Emery's side though, starting just twice in the Premier League despite right-wing rival Leon Bailey struggling for form. Captain John McGinn has also been used over the 22-year-old as the Villans look to secure Champions League qualification again this season whilst competing in both Europe and domestically.

According to The Athletic, the Villa hierarchy is considering letting Philogene depart on loan this January transfer window as to prevent his career from stagnating. Talks are reportedly set to take place in the coming days with game time for the England under-21 international the priority.

Two clubs who have been touted as potential destinations for former Hull man are two that were unsuccessful in securing his services permanently in the summer. Both Ipswich Town and Everton failed to bring Philogene in, with Villa matching the former and the latter having a bid rejected.

The Toffees would have a tricky time recruiting their target this month. Due to him only arriving at the start of the season, a loan seems like the only option in securing the London-born winger at the moment and Sean Dyche's side have no available loan slots left. Premier League sides are only permitted to have two players from other domestic sides on loan and Everton currently have Armando Broja (from Chelsea) and Jack Harrison (from Leeds United) in their squad. Any attempt to sign Philogene would require the Merseyside club to terminate or make permanent one of those two loan signings.

Ipswich, however, could be an option. The Tractor Boys did manage to secure the winger signings they desired in the summer despite missing out on the now-Villa forward, bringing in Omari Hutchinson from Chelsea, Jack Clarke from Sunderland and Chiedozie Ogbene from Luton Town. However, Ogbene suffered a season-ending injury back in October and Kieran McKenna's side could very well look to restore their depth in wide areas with the signing of Philogene. The temporary nature of a potential deal could suit all parties; Philogene would secure more minutes, which suits Villa, and Ipswich would add quality and depth whilst replacing Ogbene, who would be set to return from injury upon the expiry of the loan.

Emery and Monchi are currently in negotiations over the signing of Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen who most frequently operates on the right wing and, should that deal come to fruition, the loan departure of Philogene would become increasingly likely.
