Hull City's signing number seven of the January window, Louie Barry, says the thumping 3-0 win at Sheffield United convinced him that moving to the MKM Stadium was the right career move as he looks to get his first taste of Championship football.

City romped to a convincing success at Bramall Lane in front of the television cameras last Friday evening, a result which captured the imagination of many watching on, including the 21-year-old Aston Villa starlet who goes straight into Ruben Selles' squad for Saturday's huge home meeting with Stoke City.

Barry had a host of clubs all vying to get him on loan for the remainder of the season, but following talks between Acun Ilicali and his Villa counterpart, Nassef Sawiris, over the weekend, the Tigers clinched an eye-catching deal.

“I’m really excited. I had a good start to the season, and hopefully, I can end it really well. I’ve got a lot of goals in my mind that I want to achieve here," the ex-Barcelona youngster said.

“I spoke to the gaffer, and he said all the right things. I watched the Sheffield United game, and that was a big turning point for me because everything the gaffer said was spot on and came to fruition."

Barry enjoyed a stunning first half of the campaign on loan at Stockport County in League One where he bagged 15 goals in 23 games, having helped the Edgeley Park club to promotion the season before, and he's determined to carry that form into the Championship in the remaining 17 games of the season.

“I just want to get out there now. I haven’t played for about a month, and I’m chomping at the bit to get out and hopefully score a few goals," Barry continued.

“I started the season off by scoring goals and creating chances, and I want to end it the same way. I’m hungry, probably hungrier than ever, and I’ve got that point to prove in the Championship. I’ve never played in the Championship, so it’s my time to go out there and show people what I can do.”
