Aston Villa welcome Liverpool to Villa Park tonight with a potential injury crisis on their hands in the second instalment of their home triple header this week. Villa, held by Ipswich Town on Saturday, welcome Chelsea this weekend but entertain Premier League pace-setters Liverpool with Unai Emery's squad currently stretched.

Villa are certainly without defender Pau Torres, who is still to return from injury, and midfield trio Boubacar Kamara, Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley for this fixture against the Reds, who themselves are without Joe Gomez and Cody Gakpo through their own respective injuries.

Emery wasn't able to confirm, meanwhile, if any of doubtful trio Matty Cash, Ezri Konsa or Leon Bailey would be in a position to make the squad tonight; Cash hobbled off at Wolves, while Konsa limped off against Tottenham in the FA Cup. Bailey did likewise.

Emery has called on Andres Garcia to fill the void at right-back, while he has fellow winter signings Axel Disasi and Marcus Rashford ready to help plug the gaps if Konsa and Bailey aren't in a position to play, but any one of those three doubts could yet make up a part of the squad.

The worst case scenario for Villa is that Konsa, Cash and Bailey join the others already missing to leave a very skinny senior squad, hit hard by injuries in what is a gruelling and congested fixture list and with the return of Champions League football fast approaching, too.
