Astros one game away from World Series after Yankees win

The Houston Astros took a commanding 3-1 lead after Game 4 in the American League Championship Series, beating the New York Yankees 8-3 on Thursday night.

After their win in Yankee Stadium the Astros are now just one victory away from the 2019 World Series, where the Washington Nationals await the winner.

With the bases loaded, Brett Gardner’s free pass put the Yankees up early, but the Astros leapt out to five-run lead thanks to two three-run homers. First Carlos Correa launched one off Chad Green, before center fielder George Springer hit his off Masahiro Tanaka in the third innings.

Ryan Pressly struck out Gleyber Torres and Edwin Encarnacion with the bases loaded in the fifth inning to wipe out a slim chance that the home side had of crawling back the Astro’s lead. In the next innings Gary Sanchez hit a two-run homer to close the gap to three, but it proved to be as close as the Yankees got to this impressive Houston team.

The Astros will look to book their place in the World Series on Friday with the next ALCS game.
