Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal closes down Ben Foster of Watford and scores the winning goal during the Premier League match between Watford and Arsenal at Vicarage Road.

Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has admitted he prefers playing up-front alongside teammate Alexandre Lacazette.

Talking after the Gunners’ 1-0 Premier League victory over Watford at Vicarage Road where the Gabon international played as a lone striker, Aubameyang revealed he actually favours playing up front alongside Frenchman Lacazette.

The 29 year old said: “Eveybody knows I like to play with Laca [Alexandre Lacazette]. We have a great partnership but sometimes one plays and the other stays on the bench and it’s like that.

“You have to fight for the team. I think you know that I like to play with two strikers but I don’t want to say it.”

Arsenal have been criticised for playing away from home with only one striker, where they’ve failed to win 10 of their 19 games away from the Emirates this season.

But the Gunners were victorious against Watford with Aubameyang scoring the only goal of the game, closing down a clearance from Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster with the ball ricocheting off of the number 14 and into the back of the net.

The striker was pleased with how the goal went in though. He added: “It’s been a long time that I have wanted to score a goal like this. Tonight it went through. I was confident.

“Normally goalkeepers, they don’t really know if you’re coming back to them. A good goal. For me I like it.”

When asked if he could catch the likes of Mohammed Salah and Sergio Aguero at the top of the Premier League goal scoring charts, Aubameyang was certainly confident.

He said: “Why not? I feel confident and the race is going on. I know it’s a tough battle, but I am confident and I will carry on.”
