Austrian club react to transfer of Maksym Talovierov to Plymouth Argyle
Austrian Bundesliga club did not want to stand in the way of defender Maksym Talovierov making the move to the Championship in England with Plymouth Argyle, their head coach Markus Schopp has declared.
The 24-year-old, who represented Ukraine at the Euro 2024 finals in Germany as well as the Olympics last summer, has joined the Pilgrims on a contract until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Argyle have announced it as a club record signing but neither they nor LASK have disclosed the transfer fee. It has previously been reported to be €2 million (around £1.7m).

Talovierov had two loan spells with LASK from Czech club Slavia Prague before making a permanent move to the Linz-based club in February 2024 and made a total of 67 appearances overall. The 6ft in defender started four of LASK's six 'league phase' games in the Europa Conference League this season, and came off the bench in another one.
Schopp said: "We didn't want to deny Maksym Talovierov the chance to prove himself in England. He has always put himself at the service of the team and we wish him all the best in his new role. We see ourselves as very well positioned in the centre-back position, especially as our young players have shown strong performances in games and training."
Christian Gratzei, LASK's head of football operations, added: "Maksym Talovierov has matured at LASK to become a Ukrainian national player and European Championship participant. The offer from England speaks for the development he has made with us.
"We are now giving other players the opportunity to prove themselves. We have complete confidence in our squad and in our up-and-coming young players, who have made a very good impression in recent weeks."
Talovierov was a late substitute for Ukraine in a 2-1 win against Slovakia at the Euro 2024 finals and then went to play in all three group games for his country in the men's football tournament at the Olympics in France later in the summer.
He started in defeats by Iraq and Argentina and came off the bench in a victory over Morocco. Talovierov has gone on to play three times for Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League this season.
