Autumn Internationals 2024: Rugby fixtures, how to watch and England latest
The autumn internationals, or Autumn Nations Series to give it its official title, saw the best of northern and southern hemisphere rugby come together for a month of mouth-watering matches.
England were a disappointment. They lost their opening three matches, to New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, before finally ending their losing run by thrashing Eddie Jones’ Japan to avoid an autumn whitewash.
Ireland, replaced by the Springboks as the world’s No 1 team, were also beaten by New Zealand. However, Andy Farrell’s men bounced back with a hard-fought victory over Argentina and a comfortable win against Fiji. They next host Australia.
Wales endured a miserable autumn, losing all three of their matches – to Fiji, Australia and South Africa – and setting a new, unwanted Welsh record of 12 Test defeats in a row.
Scotland played four, won three, their three victories coming against Japan, Portugal and Australia. In the one that really mattered, they too lost to South Africa.
France, meanwhile, won three out of three and defeated New Zealand in one of the games of the autumn, with their other wins coming against Japan and Argentina.
