Axel Disasi to Aston Villa transfer latest as Chelsea stall on deal before deadline
Aston Villa's move for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi would appear to be in doubt with just days remaining before the transfer window deadline passes, as the Blues delay on allowing the centre half to depart Stamford Bridge. Disasi, into his second season at Chelsea, has fallen down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca.
It was initially suggested that he would be permitted to leave Chelsea on loan this month, but reports in France claim that now his parent club are stalling on the decision on whether to permit Disasi a loan. They have recalled Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace and currently have Tosin Adarabioyo to call on, as well as Levi Colwill.
Fellow defenders Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana are out injured, however, and Chelsea are now reconsidering whether to let Disasi join Villa, reports L'Equipe. Villa are keen to add to their defensive ranks after sanctioning the sale of Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce and having lost Pau Torres to injury. They've also now got to cope without Tyrone Mings for the next couple of weeks after his setback in the draw with West Ham last weekend.

Juan Foyth of Villarreal, a player Unai Emery knows all about, has been touted, while there are other links constantly emerging with the likes of Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso. For now, the immediate future of Disasi ahead of Monday's deadline remains shrouded in uncertainty.
Disasi, who signed from Monaco when Chelsea were under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino in the summer of 2023, has a contract with Chelsea until 2029. It's said that Villa is his desired destination and Villa remain hopeful of striking an agreement with their Premier League counterparts.
