Axel Disasi to Aston Villa transfer latest as Chelsea stance offers clarity
Aston Villa are expected to move to bring in another centre half by the transfer deadline, which passes on Monday evening - although it's growing unlikely that that man will be Chelsea centre half Axel Disasi. The former Monaco defender, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023, could leave Stamford Bridge before Monday night.
Chelsea, who play on Monday night against West Ham, are without injury absentees Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile but Disasi still finds himself out of the starting XI behind Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah. As a result, he is likely to be allowed to leave the club in order to source regular first team football.
A move within the Premier League is not out of the question, and Villa have been in the market for a centre half ever since selling Diego Carlos to Fenerbahce and losing Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings to injury. Unai Emery's options were so slim at Wolves on Saturday that Boubacar Kamara was asked to play alongside Ezri Konsa.

Chelsea, though, are understood to not want to strengthen a direct top four rival as they bid to ensure they qualify for the Champions League, and as a result will demand a hefty loan fee from Villa if the Lions were to explore a short-term move for Disasi, something which could deter Villa.
Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as a side who are after another defender and are considering an offer for Disasi, according to reports. They are still without Cristian Romero and Micky Van De Ven and are also concerned by the knee injury sustained by Radu Dragusin, but would like another despite having signed Kevin Danso.
Interestingly, Chelsea are reportedly likelier to entertain a move for Disasi from Spurs as, although they are traditionally top six rivals, Spurs are in a position in the table which the Blues wouldn't consider threatening to their own seasonal aspirations.
