MORTON full-back Cammy Ballantyne says that he and his teammates will try to look at the bigger picture to overcome their Partick disappointment.

The battling Ton defender admits he and his teammates were distraught to concede a late leveller at Firhill - with Logan Chalmers' strike for the home side feeling like one that had inflicted a defeat on the Greenock men.

The point, though, extended Morton's unbeaten run to eight Championship fixtures.

"Four points out of six is a great return," he said.

"The way we conceded at Partick was obviously gutting, but when you look at the bigger picture you're absolutely delighted to take four points out of six.

"There's a good mood in the camp. Everyone's happy to keep this unbeaten run going. So it carries us into this busy period quite nicely.

"It shows us how far we've progressed since the Falkirk game that we're really annoyed at ourselves for coming away from somewhere like Firhill with a point.

"Since the beginning of November, things have just seemed to click. Even in the games up until then, we never felt like we were a million miles away.

"We found ourselves not scoring when we were on top, and then getting sucker punched right off the back of that.

"Now we're being more clinical, we're taking our chances when they're coming, and you can see our reactions have changed as well.

"We've gone away to Queen's Park and gone 1-0 down, but we've come back to win. We've then been pegged back against Partick Thistle and then gone back up the pitch and scored."

Ballantyne says his side are beginning to show confidence (Image: Paul Paterson) Ballantyne says he's been pleased with the character shown by the Cappielow squad in the last couple of weeks.

And he says that's down to a number of factors - not least the growing confidence that comes from Dougie Imrie's new-look side beginning to gel after a challenging start to the campaign.

"We've showed good character and we've shown good confidence in the last few weeks," he continued.

"That's probably down to a combination of things. It comes down to confidence, and boys beginning to play with their chests out.

"It's a new group. We've all got together for the first time in the summer, and we're beginning to gel together - and hopefully that can continue."
