Ballymena United announce departure of John Herron
Ballymena United have announced the departure of midfielder John Herron.
The 32-year-old joined the Sky Blues back in July in a high-profile signing but had to sit out the opening few weeks of the season as he completed a 10-game ban he received back in 2022 while at Larne.
Herron left the Invermen by mutual consent in August that year after images circulated online of him wearing a t-shirt at a concert with a ‘pro-IRA’ message.

The former Celtic midfielder made his Sky Blues debut in the League Cup back in October, and went on to feature in two Premiership games for Jim Ervin's side.
His last appearance came in a 1-0 win over Cliftonville on November 16.
Ballymena posted an update on Friday. The club said on social media: "After a short spell with Ballymena United we bid farewell to John Herron. We thank John for his time with us and he will always be welcomed back at the Showgrounds."
