Time is running out for clubs up and down the country to complete their transfer business before the January transfer window closes for business - in February.

Clubs have until 11pm on Monday night to get their deals over the line for the remaining months of the Championship season, but at Hull City, the bulk of their work has already been done, and the impact is already being felt.

City have so far signed seven players this month, with Aston Villa's Louie Barry the latest arrival in time to be in the squad to take on Stoke City this weekend. The club are working on adding a left-back to their ranks to provide competition for Matty Jacob and Sean McLoughlin, who has impressed in the past three games in that position.

The arrival of Barry has grabbed the imagination of Tigers fans, given his impressive exploits in Leagues One and Two with Stockport County. He is widely regarded as one of the hottest youngsters in England, a move which, while costly, is viewed as a real coup given their lowly league position.

Joe Gelhardt got off the mark in some style against QPR last Tuesday night, rattling in an unstoppable volley from 20 yards out. He then played a key role at Sheffield United on Friday night, as did Matt Crooks, who curled in the opener en route to an impressive 3-0 win in the Steel City.

Eliot Matazo came off the bench for his debut, and Kyle Joseph put in a real shift after being handed a first start in place of Joao Pedro, who was rested. The Saturday before that, Crooks, Gelhardt and Nordin Amrabat all made an impact off the bench to see out the 1-0 win against Millwall.

Boss Ruben Selles has been careful about how he utilises his new arrivals and didn't even need to feature Lincoln at Bramall Lane after it was decided the Fenerbahce loanee hadn't had enough training to be on the bench.

Having struggled badly with injuries all season, Selles now has options at his disposal both in his starting XI and on the bench as he looks to drag the Tigers away from danger. While this January has a very different feel to 12 months ago went the Tigers were in the thick of play-off race, business has been brisk and in key areas needed.

Pace, and legs, have been added to a team who looked worryingly slow and one-dimensional before, giving the team a very different feel to the one we saw before.

Ryan Giles, Will Jarvis, Marvin Mehlem and Ryan Longman have been moved on, and there will be more departures before the 11pm deadline, it's hoped, which will further reduce a squad that stands at forty, with Chris Bedia set to join Young Boys in Switzerland and Anthony Racioppi is moving to FC Koln in Germany.

As it stands, City have had a window which has made a positive impact on Selles' squad and, in turn, their fortunes, and while a world away from 12 months, they needed a dramatic impact, and that's what they've had.

And there are still a few days to go, and with this football club, anything remains possible.
