Max Ojomoh said that he believes Bath Rugby have a superior mindset this season than last season which can put them in line for further success.

Having reached the Premiership Final last season, losing to Northampton Saints, Bath have put themselves in a very strong position to get back there, sitting top of the table entering the start of the Six Nations.

Ojomoh said that he believed the team had a new attitude this year which has put them in a better position to win the whole thing.

He said: “Last year we realised, as a team, where we could get to and this is almost like fulfilling what we aspire to do.

“This year we knew our goal was to win every game and be top of the table, so I think we are in a better position than we were last year going into the Six Nations.

“The standards are the big switch from last year, we have got more belief as a team that we can do it and mentally we expect better performances.

“We are going into games less 50-50, we are going in with the objective to win every week.

“If you look at Northampton last year, they were top of the table and they could rest their boys for a couple of away games towards the end, whereas for us the table was tight, and we had to slog it out and this time we are in a better place.”

Bath Rugby play two home pool stage fixtures of the Premiership Rugby Cup at The Rec against Bedford Blues on Sunday 2 February and Ampthill on Saturday 8 February. Make the most of the club’s amazing offer and get a FREE Junior ticket with each full-paying Adult by booking on the club website.

This year has been a breakout season for Ojomoh and he spoke about how watching those before him has helped bring out the best in his game.

He said: “I was thinking about this the other day with Miles Reid, he is two years above me and I watched him throughout my time with the academy and then stepping up as a first-team player.

“He started really kicking on two years later and I think it is really important for me to start fulfilling my potential.

“I am very conscious that as I get older, the standards that may have been good for me at 22, the bar gets raised.

“Winning, for me, is pretty much everything and I genuinely couldn’t care if I have a bad game as long as we win.

“I think that has been a big thing with my mindset shifting from when I first came through, we were losing a lot and it was easy for me to think about what I could do or what made me look good.

“Whereas now it is more about team play, how do I put myself in the best position to manipulate defenders rather than looking for my own achievements.”
