Bayern Munich chief drops major hint on Mathys Tel transfer amid Manchester United interest
Bayern Munich director of sport Max Eberl has opened the door for Mathys Tel to leave the club before the end of the January transfer window amid reported interest from Manchester United.
Tel has been linked with a stunning move to Old Trafford this month after expressing his desire to depart Bayern in search of regular game time. The 19-year-old sensation has failed to score in 14 matches for the German side this season and has fallen down the pecking order since Vincent Kompany's arrival.
As well as United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea have 'reached out' to Bayern to enquire about Tel's services, according to Sky Sport Germany. Bayern are considering both a loan and a permanent deal for the Frenchman - and it's added that 'everything' is possible heading into the final four days of the window.

In addition to the Premier League quartet, clubs from the Bundesliga, France, and other countries are also keen on Tel, who has until 2029 to run on his current deal in Bavaria. Tel's market value is around £25million, but Bayern are likely to demand more for a player with such potential and still at a young age.
Now, Bayern chief Eberl has provided an update on Tel's future at Bayern. He said: "We spoke in December, and Mathys said he wanted to establish himself. Now he says he wants to leave (…) There’s no bad blood. I can understand him. I’ve rarely had so many clubs call me about a player before."
Despite Tel's uncertain future, he was named in the Bayern starting XI for the first time since November ahead of their Champions League tie against Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday. Tel played 62 minutes for Bayern before being replaced by Kingsley Coman, who scored his side's third in the 3-1 win.
And after the game, Tel dropped the biggest hint yet that he could leave Bayern. A video emerged on social media of Tel seeming to say goodbye to the Bayern fans inside the Allianz Arena. The video shows him approach them, individually, and applaud them before giving one fortunate supporter his training coat.
The striker then took a number of pictures with fans and shook their hands before returning to the pitch. Asked by Sky Germany if he had played his last game for the club, he said: "I don't know."
It could have been a simple message of gratitude from Tel towards the loyal home fans, but with the speculation around him, it looks to be a goodbye.
