Bayern Munich train sights on Celtic as 3 stars reveal true feelings after Leverkusen stumble
Bayern Munich may have served up a dire stat in their top of the table clash with Leverkusen - but the stars of the Bundesliga giants are now fully focused on Celtic with one admitting: "We don't care about the rest."
Vincent Kompany's men faced a blockbuster showdown with Xabi Alonso's champions and they survived a real onslaught to retain their priceless eight-point lead at the league summit. It was a much different performance from the table toppers from Wednesday's Champions League win over Brendan Rodgers' men with Munich largely on the back foot for most of the 90 minutes. Leverkusen had their chances, including hitting the woodwork on a couple of occasions, before missing a huge chance at the death.
Three leading Bayern stars delivered their reaction to the goalless draw as they now turn full focus to welcoming Celtic to the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night. The Hoops head for Germany off the back of a 3-0 win over Dundee United. Callum McGregor, Jota and Adam Idah grabbed the goals in a comfortable win over Jim Goodwin's men at Parkhead.
Manuel Neuer
"We're happy with the result. We didn't create much, Leverkusen had a good day and put us under pressure. It was difficult to find proper space. We're going home with a point, which is perhaps fortunate. But in the past, it's also been the other way round. Leverkusen started aggressively, our training in defence paid off. We had a lot of players at the back, and we did well. The important objective today was that we didn't lose the game, and we did that.”
Jamal Musiala
“It wasn't a normal game today; we didn't have much pressure on the ball and didn't have much possession. In the end, we got a point and still have an eight-point lead. That's definitely a positive. Leverkusen were very aggressive, they really pushed. We just wanted to play our game today. Our focus was on defending. Now we'll see what we can do better – and then it's onwards to Celtic on Tuesday.”
Thomas Muller
"You can call it whatever you want and add adjectives to it. Whether it's masterful or not, we're eight points ahead and have the chance to advance in the Champions League at home on Tuesday. We don't care about the rest."
