Ben Doak & Isaiah Jones Middlesbrough transfer latest amid fresh developments
IPSWICH Town are set to sign Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene - but are said to remain interested in Middlesbrough loanee Ben Doak.
The Tractor Boys looked poised to capture Philogene from Hull City in the summer, only for Aston Villa to match the bid and trigger a clause to re-sign their former winger.
But Philogene has struggled for action at Villa Park in the first half of the season and although Unai Emery initially suggested he'd prefer a loan rather than permanent exit for the 22-year-old this month, Ipswich have now struck a deal with their fellow Premier League club.
Philogene was set for a medical with the Tractor Boys on Thursday morning.
But the arrival of Philogene won't mean Ipswich give up on Doak, according to sources close to the Premier League club. Ipswich are said to still want to sign a right winger and a striker before the end of the January window.
Town had a £16m bid for Ben Doak rejected by Liverpool at the end of last week and have also been strongly linked with Emmanuel Latte Lath, who they tried to sign in the summer.
What's not clear at this stage is how much the fee paid for Philogene - said to be £20m plus add-ons - will eat into Ipswich's January budget.
Doak's future is uncertain as things stand on the back of Ipswich and Crystal Palace's failed swoops for the winger last week. Both clubs are said to be weighing up their next move, while Brentford and Fulham have also been linked.

Doak's situation is regarded by Boro as separate to Isaiah Jones' position, with the winger closing in on a move to Luton and set for a medical today.
With Doak excelling at the Riverside, Jones has found opportunities hard to come by this season.
Boro were willing to allow Jones to move on but were by no means forcing him out of the door and instead willing to let the winger decide on his future. With personal terms not expected to be a problem, a deal now looks set to be finalised.
The uncertainty over Rob Edwards' future - with reports emerging yesterday claiming Luton's manager is set to leave - hasn't had any impact on Town's interest in Jones.
With Jones set to move on, Boro will potentially look to replace the winger. As well as Doak, they also have Marcus Forss as an option on the right, though the former Brentford man has struggled to stay fit this season.
Although Micah Hamilton has played more of his football on the left flank this season, the former Manchester City youngster was initially signed as a right sided attacker.
