Liverpool has rejected a bid from Crystal Palace for Ben Doak.

The 19-year-old is currently enjoying a loan-spell with Middlesbrough in the Championship, with Doak getting regular minutes under the guidance of Michael Carrick. Boro currently sit fifth in the Championship, having recently beaten Hull City 1-0 in dramatic fashion.

In the summer, Liverpool looked to be open to letting the three cap Scotland international leave Anfield on a permanent until he ended up going out on-loan to Boro. And now it appears they would be willing to let Doak go in January should a club meet their asking price for the teenager.

Palace's bid for Doak was $18.6m (£15m) which was rejected by the Reds. According to the Athletic, Liverpool value Doak at around $37M (£30m). While Palace may come back in with another offer for Doak, they will need to significantly up their offer for the winger if they want to bring him to Selhurst Park.

Doak has made 10 appearances for Liverpool, three of which were in the Premier League, but has not yet established himself as a first-team player. A serious injury last season kept him out of the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, with Doak eyeing up a return to action for the European Championships last summer in Germany. However, he picked up an injury ahead of the tournament, which prevented him from taking part.

"We have a commitment that we want to sign two players, two different positions," said Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner in his Friday afternoon press conference.

"The profiles are clear. Players are fixed. Now we have to get the deals done. This is the job of the club. I know they are working hard. Better we get them yesterday than tomorrow but we’re not the only ones who want them. I have a clear commitment we want to sign two players."

Liverpool.com says: "When you look at the likes of Wilson Odobert and Crysencio Summerville leaving Burnley and Leeds United for around the $37m (£30m) mark, the price tag the Reds have placed upon Doak doesn't seem too outlandish. Doak still has plenty of development to undertake, so it would make sense for Liverpool to sell if someone came in for him at the right price.

"That said, he is talented, and Liverpool believe there is a player there. The best course of action may be to let him continue his development in the Championship this season before returning to Anfield in the summer for pre-season."
