Ben Stokes takes ‘one of the greatest catches of all time’ in World Cup opener

England’s Ben Stokes has taken ‘one of the greatest catches of all time’, says former England captain and Sky Sports commentator Nasser Hussain.

Andile Phehlukwayo swept Adil Rashid for waht was surely going all the way for six but, Stokes put one hand in the air and somehow managed to hold on.

South Africa won the toss and put the hosts into bat at The Oval for the World Cup opener.

Stokes top scored for England on the way to a score of 311-8, meaning South Africa needed 312 for the win.

The 27-year-old’s unbelievable dismissal of Phehlukwayo meant the Proteas were 180-7 with just over 15 overs to play.
