Benjamin Sesko interest, chances of signing Alejandro Garnacho and more Chelsea transfer updates
With less than a week to go of the January transfer window, things are beginning to heat up for Chelsea.
There have been plenty of rumours and speculation - as always - when it comes to the Blues on the transfer front. Left wingers are being looked at, while the club are somewhat waiting for an opportunity to present itself when it comes to a striker.
football.london's Chelsea correspondent Bobby Vincent conducted a lengthy Q&A session on Monday afternoon, where readers got the chance to ask him the latest on the club's transfer activity. Here is the full transcript...

Question: "Are we signing Alejandro Garnacho or Benjamin Sesko?"
Bobby: "There is genuine interest in Garnacho. The club are still considering a move for him, I'm told, while Man United are expecting a bid from Chelsea. That is one that certainly could happen. As for Sesko, again; someone the club really like.
"One of numerous striker targets but nothing concrete to suggest he will sign before next week's deadline. Things can change, of course."
Question: "Are we recalling Andrey Santos?"
Bobby: "At the moment, it doesn't seem so. Enzo Maresca has said on a couple of occasions that he doesn't think the club need to recall anyone."
Question: "Is Mathys Tel open to a move to Chelsea?"
Bobby: "Nothing I've heard from his side at the moment. Reports from Germany suggest he is not too keen on the move. Chelsea still in talks with Bayern Munich and will not hesitate to make an offer should they receive any form of encouragement that he is available before next week's deadline."
Question: "Any updates concerning a striker and defenders?"
Bobby: "Striker-wise: A number of names are being looked at. One that could be visited in the last week but equally, could be a summer job. I know that's not what you want to hear, necessarily.
"Defence: I can't personally see anything more happening this month but centre-back is certainly an area the club are actively looking at in the transfer market."
Question: "Any surprise names that might get linked to the club in the last week of the window? Or are there any names who haven't been mentioned that the club are looking at?"
Bobby: "Unfortunately not. Any names I hear, I will then write about. That's not to say the club don't have something up their sleeve."
Question: "Do you think there is an acceptance from Enzo and/or the board of the fans' view that we need a goalkeeper, injury-free defensive midfielder and a striker as a minimum if we are to be title contenders? If not in this window, then in the summer, which we all understand is a better market?"
Bobby: "I believe so. Enzo has said many times that Chelsea are not ready to be competing for the title and while he hasn't said it in as many words, I think he knows there needs to be strengthening of the squad. You're right, the summer is a better market and we are likely to see plenty more happen from a Chelsea perspective when that window does open."
Question: "Are we keeping Marc Guiu? I hope he stays..."
Bobby: "Gone very quiet on that front. Nothing to suggest he leaves. I don't think Chelsea can afford to let a striker leave."
Question: "Do you think we will sign Garnacho?"
Bobby: "I think there's a chance Chelsea do sign Garnacho, yes. The club really like him and all the noises suggest a move could happen."
Question: "Do you think the reason we are interested in Garnacho may mean Mykhailo Mudryk is banned for a few years?"
Bobby: "I couldn't answer that, to be honest. The uncertainty around the Mudryk situation has certainly led to the club looking at alternative options but as far as a ban/any action is concerned, I do not know."
Question: "Is there a strong chance Chelsea will sign Liam Delap now or in the summer?"
Bobby: "Definitely a big chance. Probably more likely to be in the summer as Ipswich would demand an extortionate fee midway through the season. Chelsea really like Delap."
Question: "Why are Chelsea not signing a proven striker like Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres or Benjamin Sesko to help us?"
Bobby: "Striker options have been considered - and are still being considered. January is a difficult month to do business in with prices usually extortionate due to other clubs not wanting to lose their star players. Trust me on this one: strikers are being looked at internally."
Question: "Why are Chelsea not recalling Djordje Petrovic from his loan in order for him to help Robert Sanchez and the club?"
Bobby: "Chelsea still trust Robert Sanchez, it seems. Enzo Maresca delivered a very public backing of his goalkeeper on Saturday, and has done on several occasions this season. Whether you think that is right or wrong, that is the reality currently."
Question: "Why haven't Chelsea recalled Santos?"
Bobby: "Maresca believes the club have enough in the middle to cope, even without Romeo Lavia. It is worth noting that Santos is having a sublime season for Strasbourg and there is always an element of risk when recalling a loan player that it could be detrimental for their development."
Question: "Are Chelsea seriously considering swapping Enzo Fernandez for Aurelien Tchouameni?"
Bobby: "No, I don't think so. I haven't even seen the rumour!"
