Bill Belichick is sharing his career wisdom in a new book.

On Jan. 31, the legendary former NFL coach announced the forthcoming publication of his new book The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football, out this spring from Avid Reader Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

Belichick, 72, is widely regarded as one of the most impactful football coaches in history, per his bio. Among his accolades are the record for most Super Bowl wins as head coach, which Belichick won six times with the New England Patriots. Belichick also won two more titles during his tenure with the New York Giants, and has a record-breaking 31 playoff coaching wins.

By the time Belichick left the Patriots in 2024, he was the NFL’s longest-tenured active head coach, but was left “as a coach without a team,” per the book’s description — until Belichick began to write down lessons he learned from his 49 years in professional sports, as well as from his father, late NFL player Steve Belichick.

“My life in football over the last 49+ years involved a lot of winning, losing and more than anything: learning. I have learned from all of the teams I was apart of since early childhood, from my players, competitors and colleagues in the NFL, and from coaches and players at UNC and the U.S. Naval Academy alongside my beloved father.”

“My hope with this book is that you learn about what I learned in the NFL about sustained success, leadership and what it means to be a team player,” Belichick says. “You can make use of those extractable lessons in your own life, no matter what type of TEAM you are apart of.”

The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football will be published on May 6 and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold.
