Bill Marshall makes Scarborough move after City release
BILL MARSHALL has officially joined Scarborough Athletic after leaving York City.
The young midfielder was released by York upon the conclusion of his contract, with fellow academy product Leon Gibson-Booth also leaving City.
Both youngsters impressed first-team manager Adam Hinshelwood at the back end of last season, and were rewarded with short-term contracts.
Their development continued in loan spells at Ossett United and Morpeth Town, where they both impressed.
Since their permanent departure, Gibson-Booth has gone on to join Morpeth on a permanent contract after his loan there, whilst Marshall was taken on trial by Jonathan Greening’s Scarborough.
Marshall appeared in Scarborough’s emphatic 10-1 County Cup victory over TIBS, even scoring from a free-kick.
He had been training under Greening for the past week, and has done enough to earn a permanent contract with the Seadogs, who currently find themselves in 16th position of the National League.
Marshall will now continue his development in a team that consists of Michael Duckworth and Ryan Whitley, with his debut potentially coming in tonight's match at home against Kidderminster Harriers (7.45pm).
