Chris Davies says Tomoki Iwata is available for the trip to Huddersfield Town after missing Birmingham City’s last three games due to injury.

The Japanese midfielder’s return would be a significant boost to Blues’ chances of defeating their promotion rivals at the John Smith’s Stadium. With six goals across all competitions, only Jay Stansfield and Alfie May have scored more than Iwata this season.

“Tomoki has had a few days of training now,” said Davies. “It was nothing major with Tomoki but he’s been building up the last few days so he’s available.”

Blues will be without Iwata’s midfield partner Paik Seung-ho once again. The South Korea international remains in the treatment room at Blues’ training base so Marc Leonard should continue in midfield against the Terriers.

Willum Willumsson and Emil Hansson remain sidelined, but Davies was able to provide a positive update on the former. He said: “Willum is outside and running doing individual training, I hope that in the next week or two he’s back team training and getting ready to be available.

“With Hansson, he’s a little bit longer than that and the same with Paik – Paik is a little bit longer than Willum as well. They’re not miles away but Willum’s the closest.”
