Birmingham City have been linked with a deadline day swoop for Sheffield United youngster Kurtis Havenhand.

Havenhand, 19, currently plays for United’s under-21 side after penning his first professional contract at Bramall Lane during the summer. According to The Star, Blues are interested in acquiring Havenhand for their development side.

The striker has impressed whilst coming through the ranks for the Blades and top scored for their under-18s in 2022/23 with 18 goals in 28 matches before suffering a season-ending ACL injury that forced him to miss the whole of 2023/24.

Hanenhand only returned to full fitness in October and hasn’t been able to force his way into the line-up of Sheffield United’s under-21s this season. The Blades currently lead the Professional Development League, with Blues near the foot of the table.

Blues currently have Frank Tattum, Daniel Isichei, Ben Wodskou and Briar Bateman as striking options in their under-21 set-up. Last season’s top scorer and talisman Junior Dixon was loaned out to Boreham Wood during the summer and coach Steve Spooner has had a much younger crop at his disposal this term.
