Exeter City allege their midfielder Caleb Watts was subjected to racist abuse on Saturday.

The Grecians played Birmingham City in a League One clash at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on Saturday. And just hours after the final whistle, Exeter made a statement on social media platform X, which Blues reposted.

It read: “Exeter City FC is appalled by the racist abuse sent to Caleb Watts on social media today.

“The message is clear: racism has no place in our society. The club is working closely with the police and @kickitout, and are offering our support to Caleb.

“We need your support to help eliminate this. If you witness or hear any racist behaviour, please don't stay silent. Report it immediately at http://kickitout.org/report or call 020 3967 8989.

“Together, we can make a difference.”

Watts played for Exeter against Blues on Saturday, starting the match and playing the full 90 minutes as Chris Davies’ side won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ethan Laird.
