Birmingham City have sent teenage attacker Romelle Donovan on loan for a second time this season. The 18-year-old has joined Brentford for the remainder of the season.

He makes the move having spent the first half of the campaign at League One Burton Albion where he made just nine appearances and scored one goal in the Vertu Trophy victory over Northampton Town. His loan was mutually terminated in December.

Since being back he has featured for Blues Under-21s but will now go out to gain more experience having been given his breakthrough at Blues by Wayne Rooney. In all he played ten times for Blues last season – and also signed a professional contract until June 2026.

But he has not kicked on yet under Chris Davies and will now end his second season in senior football at the Gtech Community Stadium. The move comes after Brentford tried to sign him in the summer transfer window but a deal could not be struck.

Even with injuries to Willum Willumsson and Emil Hansson, Blues are well stocked in attacking positions with Luke Harris, Kieran Dowell, Keshi Anderson, Jay Stansfield and Lyndon Dykes all having played behind Davies’ preferred striker.
