A Bishopton girls football club has received a donation to provide essential kits for its players.

Bishopton FC Girls Academy, established in 2021, has grown from 50 to 120 players, highlighting the increasing popularity of girls' football.

The club's success has been attributed to its commitment to providing opportunities for young girls to play football in a supportive and inclusive environment.

However, the rapid growth has posed a challenge in providing enough football kits for all new players.

The donation from local home builder Persimmon West Scotland will be used to purchase new kits and training gear, ensuring every player can participate in training and matches.

The club has also relied on internal fundraising efforts, such as football cards and community events.

Chris Logan, managing director of Persimmon West Scotland, said: "We are delighted to support Bishopton FC Girls Academy with this donation.

"It’s inspiring to see how much the club has grown in such a short time, and we are pleased to play a part in helping them provide the kits and equipment needed for the girls to continue developing their skills and passion for football."

Colin Bell, from Bishopton FC Girls Academy, said: "We're delighted to receive this funding from Persimmon Homes.

"It really is instrumental in helping us grow the girl's game in our community.

“If there's any girls out there who want to come along and give football a try, please get in touch via our Facebook page.”
