Bitter Ange Postecoglou takes fresh Newcastle United swipe as Arsenal decision made
Ange Postecoglou has taken a fresh swipe at the decision to allow Newcastle United's early equaliser in the Magpies' 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend.
The ball struck Newcastle midfielder Joelinton's hand as Lucas Bergvall attempted to knock it beyond him, before falling to Bruno Guimaraes who teed up Anthony Gordon to fire home. Both referee Andy Madley and VAR officials thought the goal should stand, given the Brazilian's hand was in a natural position and because the incident did not directly lead to a goal.
Postecoglou was left raging on the sidelines and hadn't calmed down by full-time as he launched into an angry press conference rant on the matter. Quizzed on a new VAR trial being introduced during this week's Carabao Cup semi-final first legs, the Aussie coach clearly hadn't let it lie.

The new trial will see referees explain VAR decisions to the crowd via an in-stadium microphone during Newcastle's clash with Arsenal and Tottenham's encounter with Liverpool. Officials will only implement the new format after visiting the pitchside monitor on matters such as offside and accidental handball by the goal scorer.
"Do I welcome it? No," Postecoglou said on Tuesday. "Do you think if they had shown the handball on the weekend that our supporters would have been happy? Would they have come away and said, 'oh, that's great, they explained it?'"
Postecoglou then added: "But at the same time, I have to accept that it's coming in. I have to accept that this is the way forward. I have to accept that I have to be a part of that.
"But it shouldn't surprise anyone if I'm not sort of cheerleader for those kind of things."
