For peculiar goals, you would do well to ever better Darren Bent’s beachball-assisted effort for Sunderland against Liverpool back in 2009.

Lauren Hemp may have just scored the most accidental goal ever seen.

She laughed off claims it was all an accident and said suggestions she didn’t know what was happening just weren’t true.

The 18-year-old is playing for England’s under-20 woman at the World Cup – and her crazy effort helped in the 6-1 win over Mexico.

As she went flying into the air after going round the goalkeeper, she landed on the ball just yards from goal.

But instead of picking up a painful injury, she got her angles right – the ball popped out from under her and pinged into the net.

It was one of three the Manchester City star scored, the other two being a little more run-of-the-mill.

She joked on twitter that it was all planned, saying: “Haters gonna say I didn’t mean it!”

England have now progressed to the quarter-finals and have real hope of going on to grab glory in France.

England will face either the Netherlands, France or New Zealand on Friday.
