Bizarre Kyogo Celtic exit announcement sparks major MLS transfer update
The MLS have broken their silence over a bizarre claim Kyogo had joined Atlanta United by offering an apology that moved to clear up the confusion.
Celtic's star striker was preparing to face Dundee United at Parkhead on Wednesday night before an article appeared on the Major League Soccer website announcing that he had become the latest designated player at the club. Brendan Rodgers opted to start with Adam Idah over Kyogo for the win over Jim Goodwin's men.
In a statement, the MLS said: "Major League Soccer's website mistakenly posted an article that named the wrong player as having signed with an MLS club. The article was immediately removed and corrected. MLS extends its sincere apologies to the impacted parties."

Kyogo was linked with a £10million move last month, However, no offers have landed at the door of the Scottish champions with the hitman still under contract for a further two-and-a-half years. The original article posted online read: "Atlanta United have a new Designated Player No.9, announcing Wednesday they've acquired Kyogo Furuhashi from Scottish Premiership powerhouse Celtic FC."
It was deleted before the 29-year-old took his place on the turf in Glasgow's east end after coming on in the 62nd minute as the Hoops picked up three points under the lights to follow up their win over St Mirren after a derby loss to Rangers at Ibrox.
