Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace admits he isn't sure that anything is 'imminent' on the transfer front, as his club were linked with a £1.75m move for Coventry City striker Brandon Thomas-Asante - but he shared his admiration for the player as Rovers continue their pursuit of reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Reports emerged on Wednesday claiming that Thomas-Asante, who only joined the Sky Blues in the summer from West Bromwich Albion, had been the subject of a bid from Rovers this month. They've also been linked with a move for Patrick Bamford of Leeds United and a reunion with Ben Brereton-Diaz, although the latter looks set for Sheffield United.

Thomas-Asante, who bagged 21 goals for Albion across two seasons at The Hawthorns and finished as the club's top scorer in both campaigns, has scored only three times for City, and only once in the Championship - that goal came all the way back in October. There has been a run of 18 matches in all competitions without a goal since.

Frank Lampard awaits the return of Haji Wright from injury, although it appears as though he is a little way off from being able to play regularly again, while the boss also has Ellis Simms and Norman Bassette at his disposal, but it remains to be seen whether City would entertain the idea of allowing Thomas-Asante to leave so soon after he joined the club.

"I don't think anything is imminent in the next few days, not that I'm aware of," Eustace told the Lancashire Telegraph. "Brandon is another good player at this level. We have been linked with a lot of strikers already from the league.

"He's someone with good pedigree and someone who has done well over the last few seasons. I don't know if there has been a bid. I'm not aware if that's happened and if it has, okay, brilliant."
