Blackburn Rovers confirm transfer decision over loan player
Blackburn Rovers have recalled Connor O'Riordan from his loan spell at Cambridge United.
The 21-year-old has struggled for game time with the League One side and was always likely to return to Ewood Park in the January transfer window.
He ends his loan at the Abbey Stadium with only four appearances to his name. The last of those came September and he has either been left out of the squad or an unused substitute since.
Therefore, it was a no-brainer for Rovers to exercise their recall option, as they did with Jake Garrett last week. Neither player can play for Blackburn's first team if they're to head back out on loan this month.

It has been a difficult first 12 months in Lancashire for O'Riordan. He signed from Crewe Alexandra in January but barely featured in the heat of a relegation battle.
He spent pre-season with John Eustace's side but was loaned to Cambridge to further his development. But having barely had a kick, it has not been a move that has worked out so far, though there is plenty of time for that to change.
O'Riordan's contract runs until the summer of 2028 having signed a four-and-a-half-year deal upon his arrival.
