Blackburn Rovers' winning run came to an end as they conceded in the 96th minute to lose 1-0 to Millwall.

John Eustace's side looked set to make it seven matches unbeaten but couldn't hang on for a point as Mihailo Ivanovic struck in stoppage time.

Both teams had a golden opportunity apiece to win the game but premium chances were rare.

Dom Hyam sent a header just wide of the post despite Millwall starting the game as the better side. The hosts came flying out the traps and caused issues with their pace on the flanks.

Their best opening fell to Femi Azeez, who was denied by Aynsley Pears. The rebound dropped to Japhet Tanganga but Joe Rankin-Costello cleared it off the line.

Having weathered the first-half pressure, Rovers improved after the break. Their big opportunity fell to Amario Cozier-Duberry, who picked the ball up inside his own half and was somehow clear through.

He ran the length of the Millwall half but took too long to shoot, allowing Azeez to get back to make a goal-saving challenge. Two substitutes then combined but Andi Weimann hit his shot straight at Lukas Jensen after Ryan Hedges' delivery.

Millwall had two late opportunities with George Saville well denied by Pears as Rovers looked like they would hang on with ten men.

But the kick in the teeth came in the sixth minute of eight added on as Ivanovic diverted Saville's cross in at the back post.

Eustace went bold and brave with his team selection, adding Todd Cantwell back into the mix alongside Yuki Ohashi, Makhtar Gueye and Cozier-Duberry. Owen Beck dropped to the bench after illness in the week.

Rovers were chasing a sixth successive league win but it was Millwall who started the brighter of the two teams. The pace and skill of Romain Esse and Aidomo Emakhu was causing constant problems down the sides.

The forward has a shot blocked early on as the Lions came quick out of the traps. Rovers struggled to work their way into the match but came closest when Hyam sent a header just wide from a corner, knicking off Ohashi on the way through.

But Millwall continued to get plenty of joy down the Rovers' right. George Saville's cross-shot was pushed out by Pears after an overload on that side with Macaulay Langstaff then shooting into the side netting.

Rovers hadn't conceded in near enough 800 minutes but needed Rankin-Costello to clear Tanganga's shot off the line to retain that record. Pears had first saved Azeez's shot and the rebound beat the goalkeeper but not the covering defender.

Blackburn had a golden opportunity to get their noses in front in rather weird circumstances. The bounce of the ball put Cozier-Duberry clean through inside his own half and having run the length of the pitch, he was tackled by Azeez just as he went to pull the trigger.

The game looked like it was heading for a draw but Rovers had another good chance to steal the points. Two of the subs combined as Hedges crossed for Weimann, who got decent contact on the strike as he stretched but it was straight at the goalkeeper.

Rovers had to finish the game with ten men after captain Lewis Travis limped off with seven minutes plus stoppages to go. Eustace had already used his substitution slots after Harry Pickering's earlier injury.

Millwall piled the pressure on with a man advantage. Langstaff headed over the bar from close range before Saville forced another impressive save from Pears.

It looked as if Rovers had done enough for a point until Saville's cross was finished off by the head of substitute Ivanovic at the back post. A real kick in the teeth to bring the winning and clean sheet run to an end.
