Blake Griffin on Kobe Bryant: 'In Los Angeles, everywhere he went it was like seeing God'
Blake Griffin: “You'll never take LA away from the Lakers, you guys get it. There was a good stretch of like the Lakers kind of being pretty down and like him getting hurt and stuff but like dude, Kobe was… In LA he is God. He's untouchable. I don't know how to describe it. The first time I actually met him I was doing rehab I got hurt in my first year, I was doing rehab and the lady who was doing my rehab was his like PT and so I'm sitting there in the PT clinic and I remember kind of just like sitting there, I had like heat you know, you do ice and heat to start, and I'm sitting there and I kind of like look up and like the energy in the room shifted. Like a big energy has changed and I was just like's what's going on everybody got a little quiet and I look over and Kobe's like standing at the door and I was just like oh this is different. Everywhere he went it was just like… It was like seeing God.”

Blake Griffin recently opened up about his experiences with "code-switching" during an appearance on the We Might Be Drunk podcast, shedding light on how he adjusts his mannerisms, speech, and behavior depending on the racial and cultural context he finds himself in. "Yeah, I think the term now, what the kids are saying, is code-switching. Yeah, I definitely—uh, yeah. Like, also, I'm doing Melo's podcast right after this." "Oh! By the way, if you want to see a stark contrast, it's going to be me with glasses on, I'm going to have a chain on. Yeah, Kobe was dope as f***. Here, I'm like, dude, it's like seeing Jesus. You kind of, like—you know, wherever you're around. Yeah, I don't know, for me, it's like—it's kind of natural." -via Fade Away World / January 30, 2025

“It’s surreal because … I grew up a Kobe fan, huge Kobe fan, so I was automatically a Laker fan,” Reaves said. “So just to be able to, put the uniform on and go out there and compete and then, like you said, to have a couple of those games to where my name’s in with those guys is special. “It’s something that I won’t take for granted, but, yeah, I know it really looks weird when you see my name up there.” -via Los Angeles Times / February 9, 2025
Reaves scored a career-high 45 points, dancing past the defense on the perimeter, hitting from deep, getting to the free-throw line and even slamming home a two-handed dunk. Playing with a sore left elbow along with hip and back pain from a fall against Golden State, Reaves took on the high-volume role that likely won’t be there for him come Monday when Doncic is expected to debut and James should be back after being ruled out early Saturday because of ankle soreness. He joins Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant and James as the only Lakers players to have at least 45 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a game. -via Los Angeles Times / February 9, 2025
A bonkers residence, complete with NBA star power, has landed on the real estate market in Scottsdale, Arizona — and you won’t believe your eyes. Dubbed HardtSeasons, the 21,410-square-foot megamansion served as a professional basketball retreat for 60 NBA players including the iconic Kobe Bryant, Damian Lillard and Chris Paul, the listing on David Newman Partners said. While the mansion offers stunning views of the Arizona landscape, it’s also packed with insane amenities — mainly of the basketball persuasion. -via Sacramento Bee / February 5, 2025
