PORTLAND UNITED has 'amicably' parted ways with its management team and is on the hunt for a new first team manager.

Joint managers Shaun Bessant and Josh Hickman have left the club following discussions with the club.

The pair took over from Kyle Critchell at the beginning of September and started well, winning three of their first four games.

However, results of late have been disappointing losing 11 of the following 15 games winning just twice, once in October and once in November.

In that time the club also lost captain Josh Williams and prolific goal scorer Greg Borthwick as both players moved clubs.

It remains to be seen who will take charge of the club this weekend when they travel to AFC Stoneham.

A club statement said: "After discussions within the club and talks with the first team managers, a decision has been made to amicably part ways with joint managers Shaun Bessant and Josh Hickman.

"We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to them both for all their hard work and dedication to the role.

"They have conducted themselves professionally during some very challenging times for the club and wish them well for the future."
