Bob MacIntyre's goodwill knows no bounds after hidden gift in Celtic shinty jersey gesture revealed
Bob MacIntyre has been grabbing all the headlines for his classy gestures to golf punters at the WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Sporting the colours of his local shinty team Oban Celtic, the Argyll and Bute native celebrated his -3 finish in the first round of the tournament on Friday by launching replica shirts of the team into the adoring US crowd. But the 28-year-old's goodwill has not stopped there after it was revealed that each of the jersey's also contained a cash gift for lucky punters.
Taking to Instagram Sky Sports golf reporter Jamie Weir revealed that each of the shirts that were thrown into the crowd had a $20 bill attached, along with a hand-written note from the Ryder Cup winner. The message on the note simply read: "Get yourself a couple of beers. Cheers, B Mac.

MacIntyre has made a decent start to the Phoenix Open and has a score of -5 after the first two rounds of the tournament. He is currently seven points behind Belgian leader Thomas Detry but will be hoping the continued backing from the American crowd can spur him on to narrow that gap.
The Oban golfer, currently ranked 17th in the world, has opened up on his struggle to adapt to life on the course across the pond, but did win the Canadian Open back in June 2024. MacIntyre followed that up with an emotional triumph on home turf at the Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick a month later.
